The United East Indian Companionship.

In the 17th century Dutch ships sailed across the seas. They where send by their masters the VOC. An companionship of rich men that wanted to earn lots of money on trade. They did send the ships to find the best traderoute to the Indian territory. Up to then the expensive spices where brought on long trips on camel backs all the way from the East to Europe.Instead of finding the East, the ships sailed in the direction we now know as America. In 1664 New York, until then called New Amsterdam, was taken from the Dutch by the English. It's a pitty, we would have liked to be the boss in America today.
