Believe it or not, but the Dutch people where slave traders for a long period of time. In the beginning the Dutch didn't believe was so bad. Other countries did it too.
They just considered the people as a form of trade. Thousands of slaves where shipped from the African coast to the new discoverd country we know as North and South America.
The slaves where used for working in the cotton and tabacco plantations.
You can understand we aren't proud on this bit of history.
